The reason that we have pre-departure training is so that you’ll become familiar with how you’re going to be teaching as well as things you can do once you’re over there to practice and to become proficient in teaching. We also want you to learn what to expect.
We don’t want you to expect that you’re going to be a proficient teacher by the end of this training. Learning to teach is something that takes lots and lots of practice. For most people, it takes several weeks of practice and trial and error to become proficient in teaching.
You’ll learn the basics of the ILP method. We also talk about safety and welfare, the rules of the program, why we have those rules, and things you need to know so that you can have a good, safe experience. We’ll talk about things to do between the end of training and when you actually leave for your country.
